15 Mar Industry Profile: Men’s Hair Design
By Les Levesque, Owner, Tal-Mon Barber Shop
As a Christian, I believe my job is to worship God and spread His love through my conduct and my conversation. Conduct is not only how I act in church, but also how I act outside of church. Conversation is not only talking, it’s listening, as well.
Being in the service industry as a men’s hair designer and barber, I have the opportunity to do just that. I get anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes with each customer to open up any conversation that comes to mind.
The way I conduct myself in the conversation or with the service I’m providing is also is an opportunity to show God’s love. Giving a customer a listening ear or being a positive voice when a client needs it, all while servicing him with a spirit of excellence is my way of worshipping as I work.
Christians are to accept, encourage, uplift, and help restore people to where God wants them to be, and in my role, I also get to encourage, uplift, and help restore them in their physical appearance, as well.
As a business owner, I get to set the right atmosphere so the right spirit will be able to flourish, and check the wrong spirit if and when it tries to surface. I thank God for blessing me with the opportunity to have stewardship over my own business and for giving me an avenue for reflecting Him in my workplace.
